Online Reading Tutor: e-learning app for children

Online Reading Tutor had developed a screening app to gauge the users risk level of having dyslexia or a reading delay. This app was free to download and was used as a marketing and lead generation tool to filter users from the screener into the online one-on-one tutoring subscriptions they offer.

Unfortunately, this model was not scalable and limited the number of learners that could be helped by Online Reading Tutor. Working with education and development teams as well as constant user research and testing over the course of 18 months, the Online Reading Tutor Dyslexia Training App was created.

Client: Online Reading Tutor

Role: UX Research, UI Design, Illustration, Animation and Motion Graphics

Brief: Create an engaging e-learning experience that is accessible to students across North America.

Extensive user research was conducted with users (learners), parents, and tutors. Topics ranged from features, illustration styles, timer integrations, current teacher/school communications and more.

After conducting user questionnaires, an illustration style was selected and 100+ illustrations were created

User focused pages had little to no text, relying on visual cues so our dyslexic learners could navigate with ease.

Multiple animations were also created to accompany various stages of the user flow. Animations were created in After Effects and implemented into Figma via Lottie Files.
