Excessive plastic packaging has become an unavoidable part of modern life and how seldom it is recycled and repurposed. Our team explored how corporations have repeatedly failed to act to counter climate change, and how the public at large has grown intolerant of this inaction. We examined the trend of ethical consumerism and how it can drive change.

We explored the challenges of this problem space and concluded that our solution should be easy, flexible, contextual, and most of all, fun. Our product would gamify grocery shopping for kids and reward them for encouraging simple and measurable behaviour changes in their parents. Namely, selecting products with more sustainable packaging.

Role: UX Research, UI Design, Branding

Brief: Transform TO asked us to consider how we can influence human behaviour to reduce the impact of climate change through low emission development, energy reduction, carbon-free transportation and household waste mitigation.

We designed GrocerBee: The family-friendly game that makes sustainable shopping fun. GrocerBee joins families on their shopping trip and playfully rewards kids for helping their parents choose products with more sustainable packaging.

As users gain points, the points bar gradually fills up, tracking progress and game levels achieved. Once their shopping is finished, users tap “done“ and progress to the checkout screen.
